APPLICATION OF EASTLAND BASE SEALER
The following instructions must be followed when the base of the EASTLAND AAC panel has been nominated as a Hidden Base Detail on the builder’s specification documentation.
1. Ensure that slab edge width allows the panel to overhang by a min of 5mm
2. Ensure that the DPC is installed a min of 10mm past the proposed line of the installed panel
3. Whilst the panels are still in their pack bundles, select the pack select the pack end that will be used as the base (bottom edges) of the wall once installed.
4. Apply one thick coat of the coloured sealer by roller (20mm nap) or brush to the panel edges that will be in direct contact with the DPC/Slab edge rebate.
5. Allow sealer to dry prior to installation. (ie Touch dry) This should take approximately 15-30 minutes.
Note: Ensure any horizontally laid panels are also coated along the edge that will be in direct contact with the DPC/Slab edge rebate. For coating over EASTLAND Base Sealer a high polymer base coat is recommended to gain adhesion to the substrate.
6. The panels can now be installed. When installing the panels care should be taken to prevent damage to areas where the sealer has been applied.
Any areas where the sealer integrity is compromised will require reapplication prior to installation of the panel. High risk area include corners which can be chipped, and base of the panel where rotating and dragging of panels along the base of the slab edge can cause gouging and or removal of the pre applied sealer. Cutting of panels which removes the applied sealer will also require reapplication. If any damage occurs, reapply sealer as necessary.
7. Once panel installation is complete, all glue joints and all screw heads should be filled, and the entire wall should receive a light sand to remove loose AAC particles. The bottom 200mm face of the panels (for the entire perimeter of the dwelling) must then be sealed with the sealer and allowed to fully dry prior to any render application.
8. Again, apply one thick coat of the coloured sealer using a 200mm wide roller (20mm nap) to the bottom 200mm perimeter of the dwelling to all EASTLAND AAC panel areas.
Ensure that you overlap the previously applied sealer at the base. A brush can also be used but it may be slower than the roller application method.
9. If there are any unsealed areas (white EASTLAND visible) along the base or up the 200mm perimeter, apply one thick coat of the sealer using a roller (20mm nap) or a brush to the uncoated areas.
NOTES
1. Wear gloves and a mask during construction to avoid direct skin contact with the product. In case of skin contact, rinse thoroughly with clean water. If splashed into eyes, flush immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention promptly.
2. Store the product in a sealed container in a cool, dry place at 5-30°C, away from direct sunlight and freezing conditions. Temperatures below 0°C may cause delamination and product failure. Keep out of reach of children and away from ignition sources.
3. Prevent the substrate from rain, dampness or water immersion within 24 hours after construction to ensure complete drying and curing of the coating.
4. Seal the container tightly immediately after use. It is recommended to use up the remaining paint within 7 days after opening.
5. Clean construction tools thoroughly with water right after use to prevent paint from drying and sticking.
