What is EPS material?

Expanded Polystyrene ( EPS ) is a lightweight cellular plastic material consisting of small hollow spherical balls. It is this closed cellular construction that gives EPS its remarkable characteristics. EPS is produced in a wide range of densities providing a varying range of physical properties.

How EPS is made?

EPS is manufactured from styrene monomer; low levels of styrene occur naturally in many plants, fruit, vegetables, nuts and meat. EPS is a derivative of ethylene and benzene and is made using a polymerisation process which produces translucent spherical beads of polystyrene, about the size of sugar granules.

What is EPS insulation used for?

Expanded PolyStyrene (EPS) is a white foam plastic material produced from solid beads of polystyrene. It is primarily used for packaging, insulation etc. It is a closed cell, rigid foam material produced from: Styrene – which forms the cellular structure.
